Followed the trail up the west side of Sylvia Lake to the intersection with the Sylvia Ridge trail on the Montesano City Forest (Map), then followed that west to the Brownie Trail, followed that south to the Lake Sylvia dam, then west on the Forestry Loop along the north side of Sylvia Creek and back east on the south side. Total loop distance about 7 miles. Weather fine, no snow, no obstacles on trail, no mud to speak of, trails well marked and easy to follow, about 90% forest with a little clearcut along the Sylvia Ridge trail section. Interesting old railroad trestles and debris from the old shingle mill along the forestry trail. Really a very good winter lowland hike.
