This hike is nice enough, not long, about 5 miles (it's a loop). Located out near Yale Lake off of State Route 503. Between Amboy and Cougar basically. I hiked it on Sunday and saw only one other person and she was just leaving the TH when I arrived. It had been raining for a week or so, so I expected muddy trails. I wasn't disappointed. She did inform me that there is at least one spot where you have to cross a testy stream, but I didn't find it particularly difficult. I used the sort of concrete dam and fence thingy to navigate across it. Trail is not difficult with respect to elevation, about 800 feet overall. There aren't a ton of views, and the trail runs parallel at times to old clear cuts, and replanted young trees. The one thing I didn't like is that there are a shortage of signs for some cut off trails. Twice I missed a turn and hiked an additional mile or so. Also there's been some renaming of trails I believe. The name "Saddle Dam" trail seems to have replaced the name of "Ridgeline" trail in some places. Best to bring decent paper trail map or digital equivalent and check your locations against them. All in all a nice experience, though. Adequate parking at TH for maybe fifteen cars and a bathroom open.
