Arrived at the socked in, mostly empty parking lot at noon. A bit of a late start on what was supposed to be a sunny day. Wallace Falls is one of my favorite hikes and I wanted to see how the trail was doing after the big storm in November and all the amazing work that had been done to get the park reopened.
Glad to say there was not a single blow down anywhere on the trail. There were telltale signs of the immense amount of work that was done to repair the trail. Huge billets everywhere off the side of the trail. Thanks to all the folks that made it happen.
When we reached the middle falls, we had gotten above the clouds and finally found the sun and blue skies. We took the slightly more rugged little trail above the upper falls to the logging road and hiked a short distance to an incredible viewpoint looking back to the west all the way to the Olympic Mountains.
