Echo Ridge — Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025

Central Cascades > Entiat Mountains/Lake Chelan
Lake Chelan from one of the cross-country ski trails on Echo Ridge

Echo Ridge (located above Lake Chelan) is magical in the Winter. Fresh snow on the groomed nordic trails, sunshine, crisp temperatures, stunning views to the NE, S, and SW that don't look real are often the norm. What's not to like. Yesterday and today provided all those ingredients. Our time on Echo Ridge was a portal into 2 hours of restorative beauty and silence, along with some huffy puffy cross-country skiing.

Mundane details:

  • Road up is often icy so AWD, chains, and using lower gears is a must (at least on the way down).
  • Upper Trailhead has a Toilet. It was stocked with toilet paper both days we cross-country-skied 2/1-2/2.
  • Payment is done by check or cash at the TH. See the Lake Chelan Echo Ridge website https://www.lakechelannordic.org/ for more info. There is a downloadable PDF map.
  • There is a yurt that may be opened on weekends with a fire in the woodstove, but I don't know details on this.
  • There are excellent trail signs and trail maps at various junctions.
  • The views are stunning
