The road to the trailhead is mostly snowy, but also mostly plowed. The snow starts pretty directly after you turn onto the Middle Fork Road. I had zero problems getting up in my Prius. The snow did obscure a big pothole just before the final bridge, and it's not the only pothole on that last stretch, so watch out.
There was about four inches of snow on the trail. It was lightly packed down by previous hikers, but not so much that it was icy. I brought spikes but didn't need to put them on, since the snow wasn't very slippery and there was no ice.
I hiked very early in the morning when the temperature was right at 32 -- if you are hiking in above-freezing temps, I suspect the conditions will be more slippery.
