Trip Report

Sasse Ridge Snowshoe — Friday, Feb. 28, 2025

Snoqualmie Region > Salmon La Sac/Teanaway

Parked on Salmon La Sac Rd about 0.2 miles past intersection with FR 128.  Clear signage where it's ok to park.  Backcountry ski up FR 128 until the end (5.7 miles), then continued past the N ridge of Not-so-Sasse, then S (and up) to the saddle, then W to summit (6.5 miles total).  Ridge from saddle plenty wide and easy to keep clear of cornices to the left.  Met a few motorized snowbike users who had come up the E side.  A very fun ski back to the road, and only a couple short walking sections on the road. Spent most of the way back talking about where else we'd ski on a future trip--tons of low angle terrain back there, would just need to be careful (or prepared to hike back up) to avoid gullies.   Lastly, lots of reports mention lack of views on Sasse--I disagree.  Prior burn up there, so almost all standing trees are dead, and we had a gorgeous 360 degree view.

So many places to come back and ski.
