Hiked today with two dogs. Followed lower trail to Falls and it was really muddy with a lot of water on the trail in places. Wear something more substantial than tennis shoes. There is a creek crossing on both the lower and upper trails. The lower one has a sketchy high log and the upper one has nothing. We came back that way and just ended up taking our shoes off.
Tree still smoldering at Falls. Looks like someone mentioned it in another trip report. We added more water but it is up in the tree. We called it in and it was also called in yesterday. I hope it doesn’t kill the tree.
We hiked up a road past the falls to add a couple more miles on.
Loved all the moss on the trees and fern covering the forest floor. Nice, lowland hike for a Monday:).

LJMom on Cherry Creek Falls
So sad about the tree! Was it the old growth cedar?
