Greenwater and Echo Lakes — Thursday, Mar. 27, 2025

Mount Rainier Area > Chinook Pass - Hwy 410
One of the Greenwater Lakes

The Greenwater Lakes Hike. We only did the 5.5 r/t hike to where Meadow Creek comes into Greenwater River (pretty spot), a little past the Greenwater Lakes. Google says the road FS70 is closed, but it’s not and the road is nicely paved and clear to the trailhead. Restrooms were open and stocked. There was a few patches of snow around, but the hike is now completely snow free. The creeks are raging with spring runoff and the lakes are fuller than I’ve ever seen them. A few spots on the trail got very wet, but not hard to navigate. Trail is in great shape. Beautiful forest out here for this mellow hike with our on-leash pup. Only saw one other person as we were heading back.

Where Meadow Creek meets Greenwater River. All the bridges were in great shape!
Meadow Creek, our lunch spot.
