Granite Creek Trail to Granite Lakes — Sunday, Apr. 6, 2025

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
Current state of the lake: mostly still iced in

Hiked to granite lake today. Saw some lovely trillium and salmonberry flowers closer to the bottom. Higher up things are just beginning to leaf out.

Snow: completely snow free to the junction with Thompson Lake. After that it is patchy but very easy to navigate, and probably melting fast. We made it all the way to the lake without much trouble. Microspikes would be annoying (too much dirt, not enough snow).

Crossings: It was a cool, cloudy day with some light drizzle on the way down. The only crossing that we really paused at was shortly after the fork with Thompson Lake. We did not have poles and comfortably managed to keep our feet dry; some parties moved more slowly/gingerly over this one crossing than others. I imagine there might be more water on a sunny day with lots of snow melting.

Outhouses are still closed for winter.
