Fun trail for me and my dog; as mentioned by others the trail can be tricky to follow in some spots, but for the most part is more or less obvious. The creek is really gushing right now and loud! We made it *almost* all the way; there were a few slippery snow patches on the trail that we crossed carefully, but probably about a quarter mile from the lake we came to a much more treacherous looking snow patch that was about knee deep and looked like it might shift, and in honor of everyone who’s ever told me to “make good choices,” I chose to play it safe and turn around there. Saw a few people on the main trail but only one set of boot prints on this much-less-traveled trail to Marten Lake. I’ll definitely return to this one in the future!

Did this the Friday prior and I think your turnaround spot in your first photo is where I didn’t like where the bootprints were heading to the right. Was it nearly after seeing pink tape on a tree? I had to look at my gps map and go left to find the original trail that is easy to miss on the way to the lake because you don’t realize it’s the trail! But more obvious coming down. I agree that spot looked sketchy and I too didn’t want to try it. I read previous reports that commented on how a new trail was developing to the right that goes through a less stable and less safe area. Good choice, helpful photo, and hope you get to try again soon!

Yes! Just after a pink tape marker. Must have missed that trail up to the left - I’ll keep an eye out next time! Thanks!
