Always a lovely wander through the woods on the Upper Big Quilcene. There are several blowdowns across the trail, one that is a big cluster and would be a pain if you had a fully loaded pack. Another single log across the trail at a downhill angle was hard for my short legs to get across, tall people would be fine. The road is fine, a few potholes but nothing like some other roads, (looking at you Dungeness.) Starting just before Shelter Rock camp, snow covered the trail, making it hard to navigate at times and lots of post holing. That’s where we turned around, which was the plan anyway. Would love to volunteer on a trail crew to get this one ready for summer!
