Central Cascades > Leavenworth Area

This is such a lovely hike - rolling hills, lots of wildflowers, butterflies and birds. I went to up to Sunrise Peak - the balsamroot near the trailhead is all gone but the bloom was peaking right at the top (3 miles distance and 1700 ft elevation gain from the trailhead according to AllTrails). There was lots of lupine at the bottom and phlox at the top. Views and flowers kept improving after the junction where you choose between Spring Canyon Loop and Sunrise Peak.

There were a few bugs but they were not biting. A snake (no rattle) nonchalantly crossed the path very close to my boot on my return.
