There are signs, but they are small, so note that these trails are 2 miles east of the interpretive center. The parking lot is large, with an EV charger, and the outhouse is well stocked.
As you walk through the CCC-built building's breezeway, stop by the interpretive panels to learn about the origins of the petrified logs and how they were found. There is a map, which I took a quick picture of and was glad I did. As you walk the trails, there are small signs indicating the direction to different numbers. These align with the numbers of the different petrified logs on the map. Some intersections don't have a sign, so having the map helped me to know where we were headed.
The logs are protected with metal grates and are often surrounded by grasses. Most of the time each had a small sign with a number and the species of tree. We saw lots of small lizards, but no snakes. There were still wildflowers blooming.
