Trip Report: A Beautiful, Snow-Dusted Adventure
Today’s hike was one of those where you second-guess what to wear and pack—rain, chilly temps, and even snow at the summit made for an unpredictable mix of weather. But it turned out to be an unforgettable adventure.
We arrived at the trailhead around 8:45 AM and found about a dozen cars in the lot. Light rain was falling, but as soon as we stepped onto the trail, the dense tree cover kept us mostly dry. The trail itself is in fantastic condition—well-maintained, peaceful, and not at all crowded.
About three-quarters of the way up, we encountered a single downed tree, easily navigated by crawling under or stepping over. As we climbed higher, patches of snow appeared in open areas, but nothing too difficult—just enough to make the scenery magical.
The lake at the top was absolutely stunning. The cold really set in up there, and I definitely felt it in my fingers—so take my advice: if the weather’s anything like today, bring a raincoat, warm layers, and definitely gloves.
All in all, an excellent hike with beautiful views all along the trail. The descent was smooth and fast, with gentle steps that made it easy on the knees. A perfect mix of serenity, challenge, and reward.
