The road was in great condition, and the drive along the river was beautiful. Trailhead was clearly marked and easy to find. When we arrived on a Sunday (day before a Monday holiday) around 5pm, about half the parking lot was full. We only passed a handful other hikers on the trail so it was very peaceful. We went about 1.5-2 miles and turned around after the first set of switchbacks once the trail starts moving away from the river.
The bridge being so near the trailhead makes it a nice location for families with young kids and others who don't want to venture too far but want to see some beautiful sights.
Past the bridge, there are some parts of the trail that do get pretty narrow though, so would recommend caution - wear good shoes and hold on to your kids. Otherwise the trail is in good condition, and pretty gentle for the first mile or so.
