Trip Report

Shi Shi Beach and Point of the Arches — Saturday, May. 24, 2025

Olympic Peninsula > Pacific Coast

Shi Shi Beach is beautiful.

It is a long drive, down a long windy road to get here. We camped the first night on the reservation and obtained a parking permit at the campground so we could park at a private residence about a 1/2 mile from the trail head.  Then you have to hike through about 6 inches of mud for 3 miles. There is a long steep decent down to the beach.

Where I thought, I would have to deal with the tide situation much more than We did. There are plenty of camping options. If there is a next time I will go all the way down the beach and camp closer to the arches.

There was so much trash on the beach I had a full kitchen sized garbage bag full of trash within two hours of being on the beach. I could have filled up multiple bags of trash. (there is a dumpster at the trailhead). We had permits for Ozette Lake but skipped out because one night of beach sleeping is enough. Maybe next year.
