The road to the Rachel Lake Trailhead is in great shape and snow free. The bathroom at the trailhead is open.
The trail to Rachel Lake is mostly clear of snow until Box Canyon Creek, but muddy and has some blow downs. We didn't use micro-spikes. There are lots of trilliums. It's a pleasant wildflower hike.
Crossing Box Canyon Creek required hopping rocks and walking on a log. After the crossing, the trail steepens significantly. It's very wet, muddy, and difficult to follow. Sometimes it's basically a creek bed. This is no longer a pleasant wildflower hike. The waterfalls are raging with the snow melt though.
Significant snow starts around 4400'. The trail is mostly covered at this point. This is where it becomes "gear and experience recommended".
The lake is frozen but melting.
The toilet (wooden box) at the lake appears to be set up, but I didn't use it.
