Trip Report

Lake 22 — Wednesday, Jun. 11, 2025

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway

We arrived at the parking lot at 9:30 am this morning after reading other trip reports. We were unable to find a regular spot and ended up parking on the side of the entryway.

We finished the hike in about 4.5 hrs, with one of us being 25 wks pregnant and the other carrying a 25 lbs toddler. The gorgeous lake at the top made the hike up totally worth it, and our toddler was a happy trooper the whole way!

We found some ripe blueberries and salmon berries along the open section of the trail about 2/3rds the way up. Also found some flowering orchids (twayblade and platanthera), as well as white marsh marigold, fleabane and western red columbine at or near the top toward the lake.

Bugs weren’t too bad at the lake, but they did start biting after a while. I’d still suggest bringing lunch and enjoying the view!
