Trip Report

Washington Park Arboretum, Foster and Marsh Island Loop — Thursday, Jun. 12, 2025

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area

Lots of flowers still in bloom at the Arboretum!  This report is mostly to report that the trail from Foster to Marsh island is signed as being closed, however.  First section of the floating walkways is submerged, and signage at the spur trail indicates other issues.

Also, the short section of the Waterfront Trail that takes you west from the Foster Point trail to the edge of the lake is very muddy in sections.  There was a person in sneakers literally tiptoeing along the side of the trail trying to keep their shoes... less dirty (already too late for clean).  Do yourself a favor and skip it unless you've got boots (or other shoes you don't mind getting dirty).

According to the Seattle Parks website (link below), construction to fix a portion of the trail is supposedly going to start this summer, though we'll have to see as it sounds like they are currently going through the permitting process, which could throw all sorts of wrenches into the schedule.
