Hiked up the old trail, hiked down the new trail. No views today up top but still a lovely hike - my dog and I enjoyed the cool weather as a nice reprieve from the recent heatwave.
Beargrass and Indian paintbrush are starting to bloom near the summit. No snow, no bugs.
There were multiple places along the new trail with scattered toilet paper/wipes which is just disgusting. PACK IT OUT YALL !!! It’s so easy to bring an extra ziplock bag or even stuff your waste products in a spare dog poop bag.
Also for anyone doing the New trail out & back, fyi that your last true water source for your pups is the flowy creek at the bridge around mile 1.5 from where the New trail starts.
