Mount Townsend — Thursday, Jun. 12, 2025

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal
Mt Townsend North Peak viewpoint
Hiked to Mt Townsend Peak on 6/12/25.
I revisited Mt. Townsend Peak, which I last visited 10 years ago in February. The road leading there has improved a lot, and walking along the ridge to the Mt. Townsend viewpoint, the surrounding scenery was even more breathtaking than before.
After turning onto Penny Creek Road from Hwy 101, the drive felt so long that I even wondered if I had taken a wrong turn. The upper parking lot is small but has a restroom and seeing it again after 10 years was a pleasant sight.
From the start, the trail steadily ascends until you eventually reach the ridge, where the surrounding views are truly spectacular. One member of our group lost his sunglasses, but on the way back down, someone had kindly placed it on a rock beside the trail. If the person who did that happens to read this, thank you very much.
It was such a great day — taking the ferry and traveling a long distance made it all the more special.
