Came out with the baby to do just the bottom part. I think it’s 5 miles total to the end (where it connects with the ODT bike trail), we went 3.
It was a beautiful day to be out. The sun was there but most (90%) of this trail is shaded. There are beautiful understory plants, a huge diversity, several flowering.
I saw:
Blooming:
Bunchberry
False lily of the valley
Goatsbeard
Pacific bleeding heart (a few)
Vanilla leaf
A bunch of fairy plants I don’t know the names of
Edible:
Sorrel
Salmonberries (in berry)
Thimbleberry (not berried)
There are also some of the loveliest vine maples here, some of the finest stands I’ve seen except on the Barnes creek trail which is also in this area.
This trail, if you just do the flat part, is a comfortable stroll through the woods. The baby loved it except for being unable to manipulate my trekking pole in a backpack carrier. Being little is hard!
