Paradise Lakes, Canoe Peak — Saturday, Jun. 14, 2025

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area

Took the faint bootpath from the end of the north fork Snoqualmie River road to the paradise lakes. The route starts on an old road, crosses the north fork and from here on is very rough and extremely steep. I don't recommend unless you have navigation and scrambling skills as I'd consider it more of a scramble than a hike.  We camped at  upper paradise lake and rafted around. Didn't catch or see any fish.

From the paradise lakes we scrambled canoe peak. After bushwhacking to bench lake, we crossed the outlet and stayed left of the minor ridge, following benches of blueberries, heather and cedar uphill to the start of talus below a high point on canoe's ridge. We continued to upward traverse around canoe until close to the summit.  This required axe and crampons due to firm consolidated snow. Over the rocky areas we punched through several times.

This area is very scenic with snow, slabs and the sound of water rushing. Once near the summit we found a spot to transition from snow to rock, scrambling the ridge around a gendarme and along the narrow tree and rock covered ridge. Some exposure in sections, then we gained the summit on easier open terrain for the last bit.

The summit had great views of the surrounding area, and down to the bear lakes.
