Rock Mountain via Snowy Creek — Wednesday, Jun. 18, 2025

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - East

It looked like we may have been the first hikers to make the ascent from Snowy Creek based on the amount of debris on the trail but it was not enough to be too annoying. There was lots of evidence that deer or elk had visited the small meadow in the basin below the surrounding peaks. There was also evidence of a bear visit (see the pic) in the meadow but it was not to be seen.

The trail was virtually snow free until we reached the ridge at the top. There was snow obscuring the trail nearly the entire distance to the top. There were cornices in many places overhanging the steep slope down to Rock Lake. We decided against traversing the snow field and instead wandered over to a 'mini' summit for lunch just to the south of where the trail reached the ridge.

Sadly, we forgot to take any pics at the top! :(
