Lovely day for a hike. Arrived around 11:30am on a Thursday to a full parking lot (which had about 20 spots) and cars parked down the road. Got lucky with a close spot on the road after an early hiker left. Road is rough. Watch out for the crater pothole right after the pavement ends.
Trail is dry and surprisingly bug free. Perhaps the persistent strong breeze kept them at bay, both on trail and lakeside.
TP at vault toilet but door gets kind of jammed a bit.
Note that exit 45 has some construction going on. We had to detour via exit 47 because the work above closed off access under the bridge. Traffic gets backed up so beware.
