Abundance of foxgloves and two canine companions. C.W. Schurman

What do you do when you're pet sitting for a high-energy dog? Take her with your own for a greenspace hike!

Thursday my dog Ajax and I took pal Meg on an early morning hike (2.8 mile loop in 68 minutes) including the south part of the Jackson Park golf course looping to the pea patch and a few neighborhood Little Free Libraries.

I love going on repeat trails to document the seasonal changes, and this time the loop provided 19 bird species and plenty of foxgloves in full bloom. Golfers are out in full force but that didn't stop the birds from singing. We didn't encounter anyone else at that hour (6:40-7:48 a.m.)
