Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal
Mileage to points of interest

Arrived around 9:45 on a Tuesday and the lot only had three cars, and it is a huge parking lot. The toilets had paper and were in good shape. The info board had a map and a list of mileage to points of interest (see pictures). There was a hand-written note to go counterclockwise on the trail indicating it was less steep and prettier.

The trail is in great shape with few rocks or roots to trip you up and the bridges were sturdy. There were a few wildflowers blooming. I met about 15 other hikers including two who leashed their dogs as soon as they saw me coming. No bugs!

The trail is almost all in the shade, which was perfect for a warm day. All the creeks were beautiful. I just love cascades of water over rocks. I could hear the water over my heavy breathing as I trekked up to the high point of the trail where the multiple bridges over different streams afforded great views.

Also, there is a beautiful pull out on Hwy 119 to a viewpoint. This overlooks Lake Cushman and has a couple of port-a-potties and three picnic tables. Easier to see on your way to the trailhead, fyi. A beautiful stop.

Map of trails in the area - omits many side trails, though
