Crystal Lakes — Monday, Jun. 30, 2025

A beautiful day to hike! Got to the trailhead around noon. It took us a bit over 2 hours to get up to the second lake because we are out of hiking shape and were slow going. This trail was great to do on a warm sunny day because its mostly shaded in tree cover. I recommend poles to help with the MANY switchbacks. Trail is clear and easy to follow but pretty steep. It took us a little over an hour to get back down (much faster). The lake is beautiful and COLD. We enjoyed a rest and snack break at the top and had it mostly to ourselves. Once you reach the lake, I recommend you turn LEFT and find a spot to sit and enjoy. If you go RIGHT, there are not really many spots to sit. Highly recommend bringing bug spray. We got bit by some mosquitos :(
