Trip Report

Grand Park via Lake Eleanor — Thursday, Jul. 3, 2025

Mount Rainier Area > NE - Sunrise/White River

Bear Alert: As 'Alpine Wanderer' noted their trip report on July 1, Momma Bear with cub(s) is definitely still camped out around the 'first' clearing/meadow with the small pond, she has been back along the tree line near the pond, with her cub(s) in the vicinity. She was there coming & going on my trip (pictured). Also, there was also another sighting on another Mother Bear with two cubs further along up in the upper Grand Park meadows. Please be advised.

Having said that, it was a great day at Grand Park. One of my favorite yearly pilgrimages, and one of the truly glorious hikes in the Pacific Northwest.

Also: FR 73 gets worse every time I visit. It is horrible.

Hey Paul, I haven't forgotten the day we met at Grand Park and you rescued me from my flat tire! It's good to know you're still on the trail. I went back to Grand Park last year, but that will be my last time driving there until the road gets better (if ever). At least it's still accessible by trail from Sunrise.
