Arrived at 9:00am on Friday 7/3 to a full parking lot. Avoid parking in the side of the drive into the lot - it looks like it's OK to park there as there are no "No Parking" signs here, but the Sheriff's office had put warning notes on all of the cars that parked here on my return.
The trail is popular, so expect all kinds of poor behavior - dog poop in bags, trash on the ground, people sitting in the middle of the trail, you get the idea.
The hike itself is fantastic. The trail is relatively well maintained, but still rough and rocky. Views are nothing special, except for a brief exposed section near the top, but the real star of the show is the lake at the top. Plan on hanging out for lunch, exploring the boulder field, or going for a dip in the water. There's enough space for everyone to spread out, so it doesn't feel as busy as the trail itself.
