Second Beach — Friday, May. 30, 2025

Olympic Peninsula > Pacific Coast
Tidepool

This is a relatively shorter hike to the beach from the La Push area. There is lots of parking and an overflow lot. You need your National Parks pass. There are bathrooms at the start of the hike.

The first thing you notice is the hatchery sign. As you pass this sign, the trail is mostly rocky and root covered. This leads you to a small bridge over the creek and uphill. Tall, mossy tree await. The train was not overgrown, but there were lots of ferns along the way.

There were a handful of puddles and mud. Someone put down logs where they could help assist over the mud, but I wasn't that lucky every time.

The trees near the coast are always interesting as their shapes are affected by the wind and other elements. They are not stick straight like a tree farm.

The trail leads to the beach. Wildflowers were visible on the way. Some fungi as well. A few bugs and lots of birds.

The beach was relatively secluded at low tide except for a few campers and other early risers like myself. Good tidepools! The views of the large rocks near the beaches in this area are phenomenal.
