Arrived to the trailhead at 6:15 on a Saturday and there were still plenty of spots left. As soon as we stepped out of the car we were having to deal with mosquitoes, this pretty much didn’t stop until we got back to our car as well. Decided to go do Lewis and Wing Lake and it did not disappoint. The hike down to Lewis Lake can be tricky hopping over different boulders but try and stay to the right as you’re coming down and you should see a trail. The hike to Lewis Lake seemed like it took longer than it should have but wasn’t too crazy. After you get to Lewis Lake the hike up to Wing Lake can get pretty steep and quite exhausting. Both lakes were swarming with huge flies and tons of mosquitoes, made it difficult to just sit down and enjoy some snacks and views. Overall both lakes gorgeous as always. On our trek to Wing Lake we only saw a total of 3 hikers coming down and that was it. The hike back from Lewis Lake was grueling, having to hop over boulders while gaining elevation as well as some of the trail going straight up after your legs are already tired. We had planned on heading over Maple Pass today as well but the bugs were so annoying and our legs were like jelly so we decided to just head back to the car. Overall saw about a total of 40 people on the trail which seems like nothing for this hike. BRING BUG SPRAY! Round trip 10.1 miles and 3,160 feet elevation gain.
