The trails were in decent shape, but some areas were a bit overgrown. We hiked this trail with our six year old and almost four year old, and they both did great. This is a great beginner trail for all ages when you’re just starting out, which is why we chose it for our kids.
The trail distance of 2.6 is a bit misleading as the whole Loop Trail can be almost 5 miles as it goes outside of the park boundary. From the parking lot, we started at the first part of the Loop Trail, then to a left at the Lake View Trail, then took a right back onto the Loop Trail while heading back to the parking lot. Our total trip ended up being 3.4 miles, but our little boys didn’t complain at all, they were happy to be outside.
Some better signage and distance are needed, but overall this was a fun trail with a great view of the lake.
