The road to the trail head has many potholes and the last 1/4 mile is quite rough, not sure about your Prius, but anything AWD should be fine. I arrived at 7:30 on a Sunday and there was still about 50% capacity in the parking area. When I left at noon, cars will lined up down the road.
The trail is steep but in great condition and easy to follow. After a long climb the views are amazing and well worth the effort.
Blanca lake is an amazing color and one of the more beautiful lakes in the area. Not too many bugs yet. The lake was cold but easy enough to wade in.
