Lake Whatcom Park - Hertz Trail — Saturday, Jul. 5, 2025

Hiked from the parking area to Checkpoint B (1.8mi) and back for a total of 3.6mi. Parking lot had a decent amount of spaces; it was easy to find a spot on a Saturday afternoon. The weather was partly sunny but not too hot, and the trail is mostly sheltered by trees with plenty of shade. From the second parking area, it's a short walk (0.2 mi) through the woods and down the hill to get to Lake Whatcom. The trail is level, spacious, and follows the edge of the lake south/southeast. There are waterfalls, wildflowers, bridges, creeks, and informative plaques along the walk. Amazing, easy trail for a nature walk with tranquil views of Lake Whatcom!
