We hiked to Excelsior Pass and the High Divide Trail on a cloudy and cool Bastille Day. Road was in great shape, mostly paved, with sections of gravel. Parking lot about half full when we arrived mid-morning. Outhouse at the trailhead.
A trail crew was working on the trail the day of our hike, though they hadn’t gotten to the three massive trees across the trail that we went under, around, and over.
Snow was completely gone from the trail, the last avalanche lilies of the season blooming where it had recently been.
We met several people who had humped up the trail from Mt Baker Highway, but we were happy for this alternate route into the high country.
