Trout Creek — Saturday, Jul. 19, 2025

Hiked 3 miles RT from the FS road turn off from the Index-Galena Road. The forest service road is closed, there are a couple places to park and we were the only car. The first mile is mostly uneventful, hiking along a deteriorating road, through second growth forest. At 1.5 miles, the site of the concrete mine foundation, there are numerous trails leading to the creek. The creek is beautiful and has plenty of water. My dog enjoyed a dip before we turned around. This was our second trail of the day, if we had more time we would have gone farther. A great hike for solitude - we didn’t see anybody out on a cool, cloudy July Saturday.
