Beckler Peak — Saturday, Jul. 19, 2025

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West
View from the summit of Beckler Peak facing east (I think)

I found plenty of solitude on this trail – presumably because of the rough seven miles of unpaved forest road.  As others here have mentioned, I wouldn’t attempt that drive in a sedan, but most SUVs will do.  I had plenty of fun on the drive with my Subaru Forester.  I arrived at the trailhead around 10:30 AM to find only five other cars at the parking lot: a real blessing for a Saturday morning.

From the start, I found so many wildflowers at the trailhead.  I’ve rarely seen so much wildflower diversity along a day hike.  The trail is well established, though overgrown at certain portions for the first mile and three-quarters.  The incline is steady – never too daunting, but never relenting either.  Two trees were downed across the trail, though nothing unmanageable for the average hiker.

I saw a grouse and a chipmunk on my way up.  Nearing the summit, beautiful granite staircases guide you to the peak, along with plenty of viewpoints to pick from.  Throughout the whole trek, I passed less than a dozen other people.  I returned to my car around 1:30 PM.

Statistics

  • 2 hours and 35 minutes of elapsed time.

Land acknowledgement.  Every community and each ecosystem owe their existence to the generations past who created the history that has led to this very moment.  Heybrook Lookout is on the cultural, ancestral, and unceded land of the Stoluckwamish, Snohomish, Tulalip, and all Coast Salish tribes.  As visitors, we express our gratitude to the First Peoples.  We honor the resiliency of the tribes and the land itself.
