Trip Report

Dugualla State Park — Monday, Jul. 21, 2025

Puget Sound and Islands > Whidbey Island
Overgrown. Maybe it’s better earlier in the season.

There are multiple trails and loops. We took the trail called Wetland (never saw a wetland). The trail is well maintained up to a point. After about a half hour there is a small log across the trail (easy step over) and it looks like the mower that had been used on the trail discontinued there. The trail was narrower after that and got narrower and narrower until we were fighting underbrush and had enough so we turned around. The picture attached shows the trail called Slingshot and you can see it’s more like an overgrown footpath.

Some reports say the trail is level unless you go down to the beach, but there are some gradual slopes overall.

Note there is no toilet at the trailhead.
