There is a reason no one has hiked this trail in a while. It's hard to get to and it is overgrown with about 30-40 trees of all sizes across it. Beautiful though. I remember doing this in the late 90's when driving to trailhead was an easy proposition but not now.
We approached up the Copper Creek Road on e-bikes. This road has been closed to vehicle traffic since 2021. There are 4 road washouts in the first 2 miles with side trail workarounds(I think built by dirtbikers) on each. My partner was able to ride most of these. It's 8 miles and 3,000 ft elevation gain to the old "parking lot."
The trail is 2 miles to Glacier View. It's overgrown in places, debris covered in places, and great in places. But has about 30 or 40 fallen trees across it. We had a hand saw and had some incentive to cut smaller branches to get through once we realized we'd be coming down the same trail. And sure enough, on the way down we'd come up on some 3 tree monster pile and by finding our recent cuts we were able to find our trail through.
Of course, the views at the top were stellar. Won't soon repeat this one though.
