We did the hike up to Thorp mountain (skipped the lake) and logged around 8-9 miles round trip not 7. Anyways it’s much longer than we expected, so be prepared. Started around 11am, reached the top at 1:30pm, we stayed until 3pm and then made it back to the car around 5pm. It wasn’t very crowded but we still saw several groups throughout the day.
The views from the top were awesome, definitely go on a day when Mt Rainier is fully visible if you can. Saw many types of wildflowers throughout the trail.
There are some overgrown parts especially the bottom half of the trail so long pants recommended. Most of the first half is shaded, then it gets more exposed toward the top. Bugs were not that bad.
