Camped out Saturday night: we got to the trailhead a bit before 9 AM and the lake at around 10:30 AM, which was plenty of time to snag (in my humble opinion) the premier campsite towards the end of the lake. It was my four-year old daughter's first backpacking trip, and she did surprisingly well (the key is lots of snack-based bribery)!
When we left early Sunday morning, there were likely at least 30 tents across two dozen or so parties, so it was pretty busy. We did pass a Law Enforcement Ranger on the way out, which I appreciate given the spate of recent break-ins (luckily my car was fine).
Bugs weren't bad at all.
