Windy Pass — Saturday, Jul. 26, 2025

North Cascades > Pasayten
Wide open views await

Spent 3 nights at Meadows Campground at Hart's Pass, making the drive up that sketchy road really worth it. {Note if camping there -- it cools off considerably and was REALLY windy this weekend}. Saturday's hike was out to Windy Pass and a little further to the next ridge. Didn't hear any pikas in the big boulder field, which seemed unusual. Usually have done this hike in October to enjoy the larches/tamaracks but it was beautiful in the summer. Lots of wildflowers still blooming with pollinators of all sorts getting after them. This is an easy hike on aging knees -- so much reward for so little effort.

Saw at least 5 species of butterflies and loved seeing all the different pollinators getting after it!
Still some pasqueflowers out (also known as Dr. Suess flowers, but I call them "Barbie in a blender"
Shrubby cinquefoil and harebells (also called Scottish bluebells) were plentiful in the rocky sections.
