We arrived at the trailhead around 8:00 AM and the parking lot was half full. There are privies at the trailhead that were clean and stocked. The road to the trailhead is a combination of pavement and gravel but the gravel sections are in great shape.
Generally speaking, the trail is in pretty good shape. The first mile or so climbs gradually but is wide and is a combination of gravel and dirt. After that, the next mile to the lake is rocky with lots of roots to deal with. Our group found trekking poles very helpful in navigating these parts of the trail. There is a large log over the trail about a mile and a half in but there are also options for going over the log on either side of the trail. Additionally, there are a couple of spots with water flowing over the trail but they were easily navigated by our group today.
The trail around the lake has several small areas that provide views of the lake and places to stop and take a break or go swimming if you want. The most notable obstacle on this part of the trail is that parts of it are very brushy, mainly on the southeast side of the lake.
Our group arrived back at the trailhead around 1:30 and the parking area was full with a couple of cars in the overflow area near the privies. Strava measured my out and back hike to be about five and a half miles in length, including some wandering at the lake.
