The trail is very overgrown in some places so I would recommend going on the pct for the first mile then turning left onto the Commonwealth Basin trail. The scramble is pretty difficult as it’s long and there are many loose rocks. There was a group of teenagers (probably inexperienced) accompanied by one adult that let down a couple of small rockfalls that could potentially be deadly if you’re not wearing a helmet. The views toward the mount Daniel and Stuart areas are partially blocked by wildfire smoke. The bugs aren’t too bad but I still used bug spray.
In the end, I would recommend going on a less busy day, bring a helmet, poles, and bug spray, and be comfortable with scrambling with loose rocks and potential falling rocks.

This was the worst I’ve ever seen with rockfall. Really disheartening. I hope that group learned something from this experience. Thankfully they didn’t send any one of us to the hospital via medivac.
