Mount Margaret — Sunday, Aug. 10, 2025

The instructions and directions offered currently on Trailblazer for this hike are misleading, at least for me! Based on the trail description, we walked out an extra mile or more on the large forest road rather than taking the trail on the left - see photos of trail signs. Another group had done the same thing. Our misstep did give us gorgeous, quiet views of Mt. Rainier, however! We enjoyed plenty of huckleberries.The thimbleberries will be ripe soon. Sections of the trail are very steep, so some people might want hiking poles. There were flies at the top, but they weren't biting. Mount Margaret is a true gem of a hike, with a big payoff in views for a short, if often steep, distance.
