It was disturbing to see how much trash was left around the lake, especially at Lunch Rock. The trail itself was wonderfully trash-free, just remember to bring a trash bag and pick up after yourself when eating at the lake, and we can keep the lake as beautiful as it was meant to be.

I pack a ziplock bag with me because on at least a dozen hikes this summer I've picked up a cigarette butt. On the Skyline trail at Rainier, a woman yelped in surprise when I picked up the 4 whole stuffed crackers that were thrown for the marmots. I told her the marmots want their flowers but the chipmunks are getting very round and slow.
