Trip Report

Talapus and Olallie Lakes — Sunday, Aug. 10, 2025

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
Mt Rainer peaking over the outlet stream at Olallie Lake

Very nice warm summer day hike. Trail is in good condition and the lakes were beautiful.  Passed may parties on the trail in the afternoon. Recommend early start times.  Area suffers from over love and over popularity.  Area around the lakes show extensive ware. Passed folks packing in paddle boards.  Saw fish of legal size in the lake. I did not try fishing myself.

Road is suitable for all vehicles. Plenty of parking at 7:30a in the lot. When I returned at 12:30p the lot was full and line of vehicles parked on the road side extended about 1/2 mile down from the lot.

Many parties were camped in the area surrounding the lakes. Recommend scrupulously treating any water you draw in the area. Lots of evidence of human waste in the area (toilet paper and solid waste)  Unfortunate but an outcome of heavy traffic and folks not understanding proper use.
