Beckler Peak — Friday, Aug. 8, 2025

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West
North toward Glacier Peak and Mt. Baker

On a sunny summer Friday we encountered less than a dozen people during our hike up Beckler and back again. The parking lot had plenty of room and the summit was never crowded. As has been mentioned elsewhere, the road up is probably one reason for lack of crowds. The trusty CR-V handled the dusty road well but there were spots that required extra attention, and a few places where low-clearance vehicles might bottom out if mishandled.

The trail is in great condition with a variety of sun and shade along the steady climb upward. Blueberries, blackberries, thimbleberries and a few salmonberries were available for the picking. Most of the creeks still had water in them. Near the top one tree lies across the trail but was easy to get over or around. I remain impressed at the trail work that went into creating this little gem.

The view from the peak makes the elevation gain worth it, with views south and east into the Alpine Lakes, north toward Mt. Baker and Glacier Peak, and west toward Skykomish and Mt. Index. It's a wonderful place to stop for a little snack and some fresh air and the grandeur that is Western Washington.

West toward Beckler Creek and Mt. Index

The biggest obstacle on the path, not far from the summit
