Trip Report

Longs Pass — Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025

Snoqualmie Region > Salmon La Sac/Teanaway
Great view of Mount Stuart

This was my first trip up to Longs Pass and the hike did not disappoint. Stunning views of Mount Stuart and its amazing range of peaks, Esmeralda Peak and a glimpse of Rainier in the distance made this a great hike. The trail is in good shape all the way up with a few rocky areas and some loose smaller rocks up high that are no problem. There are several small logs across the trail but they also present no problem.

We encountered less than 10 other hikers on the way up, with 4 of those going up to Longs Pass and the rest heading to other destinations. We met a few coming down, several of them having summitted Stuart.

Regretfully, the wildflowers are gone…but there were no bugs! The only wildlife we encountered were a few squirrels and one photogenic pika that liked striking poses for the camera.

This is a great hike with wide open scenic views in multiple directions, amazing views of the Stuart Range, and an opportunity for a good moderate workout.

Logistics

  • When we arrived at the lot around 9:30, it was full. We were the first car to park on the road directly adjacent to the lot. On our return at 3:20, it was about half full with a few cars on the road
  • The unpaved roads up to the TH are in good shape with only a few potholes to cross with caution. Most vehicles should have no problem on the roads
  • No bugs
  • The trail junctions are well marked
  • There is a toilet at the trailhead

Thanks...I'm gradually getting there but still not at 100%. Maybe by the end of summer/fall hiking season.
